About Ron Houck
I was born in Salem, Oregon, and grew up in the greater San Francisco Bay Area of California. I received an MFA in Figurative Painting from the Academy of Art University San Francisco in 2010 and a BA in Studio Art from California State University Sacramento in 2006.
Ever since high school, I’ve had a love for both, art and music. However, I didn’t get serious about art until years later, after raising three boys with my wonderful wife, Suzanne.
I went back to college in my early 50’s to pursue a teaching career and rediscovered my love for art—especially painting. After my education, I began painting professionally and taught as an art professor for 13 years. My sweet wife, Suzanne, took over my accounts in a packaging career for 15 years, as I went into teaching.
After retiring, I dedicated myself to exploring ways to glorify God and His kingdom through my art. As the author and architect of all life, God is the Master Creator and Designer of the universe, heavenly realm, and everything in it. Those of us in visual arts can testify to the beauty of God’s Creation and Kingdom visually through our artwork. This is my mission today and tomorrow.
Gen 1:1, Exodus 31:1-11
I like to refer to my artistic style as expressive surrealism with a bit of abstract sprinkled in.
