Abandoned Treasures
Here’s a typical scene at a Garage or Yard Sale—where anything from household items, tools, clothing, dishes, etc. are sold. Typically, all or most the items are used and worn. In some cases, though, items can be quite valuable to collectors or as antiques.
In the painting, an elderly lady is marveling over a certain item, and we don’t exactly know what it is—but, it’s something she either needs, wants, appreciates, or has been searching for. For many, going to a garage sale is like going on a treasure hunt. What is abandoned by the owners at a garage sale is now treasured by the new purchasers—and in some cases, it truly is a treasure. One thing I like about garage sales is the benevolent spirit that is at work in many of the sales.
