What’s Your Resolution?
Every year people make New Year’s Resolutions on New Year’s Eve. In this scene, a woman’s New Year’s Resolution is subliminally written in the background—which says Patience and Kind. Obviously, she wants to be Patient and Kind throughout the coming year, implying that she’s often not Patient or Kind. In the Bible, the Apostle Paul points out the first two qualities of Love as being “Patient” and “Kind.” 1 Cor 13:4
I call the laughing, ornamental-scepter head the “Cynic”—who plays the Devil’s advocate by laughing hysterically, as he knows she will never be able to keep her resolution throughout the coming year.
Ironically, most people do fail to keep their New Year’s Resolutions throughout the year. However, we don’t know if she has Jesus to help her get back on track when she falls—but, she did pick Godly attributes for her resolution, so this may indicate there’s hope for her yet beyond herself.
